America Needs to Break Free from Single-Use Plastics
Plastic bags, disposable packaging, and single-use products are overwhelming our environment. It's time for stronger policies that protect our oceans and create a cleaner future.
Every day, disposable plastic products are used for just a few minutes before becoming waste. Many end up in landfills, rivers, and coastal waters, where they can persist for decades. Plastic bags, food containers, and packaging threaten marine wildlife, damage sensitive ecosystems, and contribute to the growing problem of microplastic pollution.
Across the United States, communities are already experiencing the consequences. Beaches are littered with plastic debris, marine animals mistake waste for food, and local organizations invest valuable resources in cleaning up pollution that could have been prevented.
While individual actions matter, voluntary efforts alone cannot solve a problem of this scale. We need ambitious policies that reduce unnecessary single-use plastics, encourage reusable alternatives, and hold producers accountable for the waste they create.
By signing this petition, you're calling on US lawmakers to take meaningful action. Together, we can reduce plastic pollution at its source and protect our oceans for generations to come.
“Protecting our oceans starts with preventing plastic waste. Strong policies can turn today's demands into lasting change.”
